How Gender Identity is Influenced in American Society
With each new generation comes a society that holds gender identity and sexual
orientation to certain standards. Gender non-conforming people have existed in many time
periods and cultures. Movements such as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) have
paved the way for better acceptance of gender identification and sexual orientation
controversies, even if a crawl of change. Despite the activism, protest still exists, and there
are still those who remain unaccepting. Research has identified several factors that contribute
to the Gender identity “crisis.”
