Understanding the equality of occupations in the labor force requires a lot of give
and research as to why things are the way they are. This being due to the fact that the
answers aren’t always black and white even though they all stem from the same
reasoning. For this paper, I decided to choose the following as my three choices for
female dominated jobs: Meeting/Convention/Event planner (78.6%), Human Resources
(74%), and Dietitians/Nutritionists (94.6). For the male dominated job fields I chose:
Judges & Magistrates (61%), Dentists (74.1%), and Butcher (74.3%). The equal
professions I chose were: Advertising & promotions managers (53.6% Women),
Probation Officers (55.4% Women), and Designers (54.9% Women)
When it comes to the Meeting, convention, and event planning professions there
is a lot that underlines the 78.6% of jobs being given to women. This seems to be based
upon the fact that women are more detail oriented and can multitask better (Pink Collar
Progression: The Rise of Women in the Meeting Planning Profession). This stems into
the fact that women tend to love to organize while also helping and pleasing others.
This trait is primarily a necessary trait to be able to only do your job well but also enjoy
it. I have worked a couple events in my life and the ones that were 100% women
controlled were so much better; from how they organized people to the way they made
everyone feel happy and calm. The flood of women into this field is the fact that the

schooling requirements for this field is for someone usually to have a degree in
hospitality, communications, or public relations. Which these tend to be fields that
generally attract more women than men. For this specific field, it is harder to get a clear
answer as to how media affects the gender trend for it. But when looking at it through
PR there are plenty of media influences; such as watching Kris Jenner manage her
kids. In terms of the pay equality for this career it shows that the average take home pay
was $859 but there was no percentage compared to men as there was not enough
data. I was expecting this to be higher but I also understand that there may not be
enough people that want to give out there salary and it’s not a high demand job field. As
there are not enough data points for men there is not enough information to gauge
whether or not desegregating would change the gap.
