Gay marriage
Gay marriage – allowing people to get married to whoever they love
regardless of their gender. While nowadays more people support the cause
because it gives people the human right to get married, most Nigerians do
not like to confer in anyway about the now ubiquitous term “gay marriage”.
Nigerians do not even acknowledge the phenomenon. Gay marriage, which
has hitherto in some places been seen as taboo and is sometimes punished by
death. In many countries such as Sudan, Iran, and even Nigeria, gay people
can be punished with the death penalty. It was not until just recently that the
US legalized gay marriage. Joining Canada, Ireland and others in the
humane feat. The first nation to legalize gay marriage was the Netherlands,
which did so in 2000. Since then, several other European countries –
including Spain, France, all of Scandinavia and, most recently, Ireland –
