Gas Law Investigation
Purpose: The purpose of this experiment was to produce 30ml of Hydrogen gas.
Question: What amount of Solid Magnesium (in cm) will produce 30ml of Hydrogen gas?
Materials:
Meter stick
Copper wire
Hydrochloric Acid (aq)
Magnesium ribbon
1 Graduated cylinder
1 large beaker
1 small beaker
1 Eudiometer
1 rubber stopper
Procedure:
1. Measure the desired amount of Magnesium using a meter stick
a. Cut carefully!
2. Wrap a piece of wire around the Magnesium so that it can hang down in the Eudiometer
to the beginning of the tick marks.
