I know I need to go to sleep, but I cannot seem to settle down. My brain is racing
at the speed of light. A million thoughts are running through my head all at once.
All I can think about is tomorrow. As my mind races, I fade into a deep sleep.
Suddenly I awake to a blaring noise. After a few seconds, I realize it’s my alarm
blasting the tune of Low Rider by War. Upon acquiring all my facilities that early in
the morning, which is equivalent to the act of herding cattle, I realize its Friday.
To most, that means the end of the week, and an excitement for the coming
weekend. For me, Friday means game day. As an athlete, I want to explain the
feeling of the atmosphere of game day.
As I enter the locker room, all my senses are immediately sent into overload. The
stench hits me in the face like a ton of bricks as I smell hard work in the five day
old sweat from the workout clothing that has not been washed. Playing the game,
the smell becomes a part of you. Visually, I am stimulated by the colorful
decorations placed at each player’s locker by parents for motivation to go out and
