Fusion Art Show Synopsis
On Thursday night, February 11, 2016, Corban University held its annual Fusion Art show
to which I attended for the very first time. The evening was held to highlight the talents
and abilities of the artists Corban has in its community.
The event was set up so that three artists would present their pieces together. However, the
groupings were not random, and the pieces seemed to complement one another in obvious
ways. Oftentimes, photographs or paintings would be inspired by the poem read at the
beginning of each miniature presentation.
There were many incredible displays of the creativity God has planted in the human heart,
but there was one piece that stood out to me above the rest. Though I don’t know the name
of it, this piece was a black and white photograph of a woman. The photographer told the
story of how he captured the portrait, saying that he prayed that God would point out the
perfect models to him during his day. God used two ordinary people, a couple, who were
standing in front of this guy in line in a shop of sorts. And with them, he captured one of
the most beautiful pictures I’ve seen in a while. I think the story carries great weight with
the photo, because it portrays the truth that God can bring beauty and grace out of the
