FUERZAS, NOEMI KARLA N. BA 2101 – Operations Management
1.) Hard Rock have established over 175 restaurants located in 55 countries. What is the
importance of technology availability and support in keeping tracks of all the changes and
quality?
Rapid technological advancement has taken over the office environment. Over the past
decade, we cannot deny that technology in the workplace has dramatically evolved. Furthermore,
it granted employees and companies to interact with the global market and even take the work
out on the road. CIO Ron Ward and CFO Scott Little stated in an article that they believe
information technology will help the chain recover its edge. Ward and Little further added
“We’re using music as a platform,” says Little. “And we’re using technology to reach the
customer. We’re looking for technology to get the company to the next level.” Hard Rock Cafe’s
technology availability has improved the modern work environment in terms of its efficiency,
productivity, collaboration, cost management, security, and overall employee experience.
Barriers that used to be in Hard Rock Cafe’s operation management have been overcome by the
invention of technology.
2.) Operations management is responsible in system planning and controlling to produce goods
and services. Is Mass Customization helpful to prevent steadfast production and success in
keeping up with the current trends?
The term “Mass Customization” is an interesting conflict of sorts. “Mass” meaning majority,
and “Customization” meaning individual. Hard Rock Cafe’s strategy is to incorporate a unique
“experience” into its operations. This innovation is somewhat of the same kind to mass
customization in manufacturing. Successfully implemented mass customization can improve
performance of a business. These improved performances include increased customer
satisfaction, increased market share, increased customer knowledge, reduced order response time,
reduced manufacturing cost, and increased profit. Customer involvement is the key in mass
not a huge problem for the company. After all, at Hard Rock, the different game is the experience
game.
