True Cost
The issue being presented in this documentary for us to see as the “beast” is fast fashion. Fast
fashion would be seen as the beast because of its negative environmental and social impacts. Fast
fashion is cheap clothing produced rapidly by market retailers in response to the latest trends.
Fast fashion has created this so it can push more products and when consumers see after their
product is not on the current trend, they throw it away and buy more “cheap” clothing. Product
costs that are this low are not possible to be made in the United States, for there are too many
rules, regulations and the employee wages are too high. This leads to globalized production,
which simply put is when all of the making of goods is outsourced to low-cost economies.
Where wages are extremely low, and they will stay low. What this does is allow those that are at
