FROM BOOK WORM TO AI FASHION DESIGNER
Amazon Is Turning Into The Guy She Told You Not To Worry About
Are you ready to have an Amazon fashion designer send perfectly tailored clothing to your
Amazon smart house that you ordered on your Amazon Echo? Should I say Amazon one more
time? I mean cmon, it might sound crazy, but believe me, it’s not too far off. Jeff Bezos and his
team have a way of doing things and doing them damn well. Remember when we thought we
would never talk to a device to order laundry detergent? Well, times have changed and soon the
designers behind our favorite clothing will as well.
There are two sides to every story and supporters and opponents of new technological
advancement. We are all aware that artificial intelligence is the idea of building computer
systems to perform tasks that we simply don’t want to do, or we need to be done more efficiently
than the human mind can execute. The advancement of AI has many of our top companies
shaking in their boots. Do I have to remind you that Facebook had to shut down their chatbots
because they were creating their own language? Scary. However, you say jump and Jeff Bezos
says, “can’t we create a f*cking robot to do that for us?” Okay maybe he didn’t say f*cking, but
you get the point. Amazon takes on risks with open arms and now the next challenge underway
is predicting trends and recreating current styles quickly and efficiently with the help of AI.

The involvement of tech companies in the fashion industry is not one to go unannounced.
According to Kavita Bala, a professor at Cornell University who is working with Amazon’s
innovative fashion team, the number of companies trying to “crack the code” is continuing to
grow. It’s basically a race for the finish line at this point. The global fashion world is valued at
an estimated $3 trillion. This is not an industry to skip past and watch others take the lead.
Remember life without Uber? It was inconvenient. Although other car services have evolved
since Uber was first one we knew. Therefore, it’s most commonly the one we trust the most.
Amazon may not be trying to adopt a car service yet, but they are trying to take the lead and be
the Uber of AI Fashion.
Companies such as Dior are using AI in a way similar to Facebook with chatbots. They are
