From Attitude to Action: Martin Luther King Jr’s Christian Transformation
Before watching the movie Boycott, I thought that Martin Luther King started off the
boycott with a violence not being tolerated. After seeing this movie, I realized that King
didn’t not want to result in violence, but it wasn’t until he spoke with Rustin that he made
it a nonviolent movement. It interested me because no one ever talks about Rustin and his
contribution in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. So I wanted to learn more about what let to
King’s change from having a nonviolent attitude to exhibiting nonviolent actions.
Research Question: How did Martin Luther King Jr go from a nonviolent attitude to
nonviolent actions?
Preliminary Thesis: Bayard made a contribution to Martin Luther King’s transformation
from having a nonviolent attitude to nonviolent actions.
