Some philosophers thought that free will is a necessary
precondition on moral responsibility, because if there is no free will,
then there is no moral responsibility. With that being said, free will
must be a precondition on moral responsibility, or else we as humans
would not have valid system to convict criminals and anyone could do
anything without having to take the responsibility for their actions. Free
will and moral responsibility does not only apply to negative aspects
for taking responsibility towards actions. It can also be applied to
positive aspects. For instance, receiving praise for a job well done, a
good deed, or even recognition for an achievement. When one
accomplishes something that person shall receive the negative, or the
positive consequences of the action that person completed. So, it is
safe to say that in order to maintain a system of control, that there
must be a connection between free will and the precondition of moral
responsibility. Free will and moral responsibility applies to many areas
of life. It can impact how one treats other humans, animals, nature. It
can impact the way one drives, or the safety they reside in, or even the
dangerous aspects in life.
