The Fountainhead
I chose the movie version of The Fountainhead to get a better understanding of
this book. I heard a lot of good things about the book when I talked to some people
about it, so I wanted to get a better understanding of it by watching a played out
version of the book. I read that the movie form of the book was very close to the
book, as Ayn Rand didn’t want any changes made from her book to movie.
The movie starts by Howard Roark looking for a job with other architects. All of
them telling him that they don’t want him because he is different from the norm and
people are used to the normal. He finally finds another architect that likes his work
because of his individualism. Howard stands up for what he believes in and his work
and for what he likes. He does not go along with what others think, do, or say. He
uses his own ideas. Roark is later told by potential clients “The public wouldn’t like
