Founders Day Convocation
Our speaker Lawrence Weekly was a very inspirational person who came with a lot of great
points. Mr.Weekly was born to a homeless mother and immediately sent to the foster system, where he
had to figure life out by himself with not much guidance. Mr.Weekly told a story about the history of
Grambling State University and how Charles P. Adams founded it. The group of farmers in rural
Louisiana decided one day that they wanted to see young black people succeed at a higher level, so they
took matters into their own hands. They then took all the steps and procedures needed to get accepted, and
from there, The one and only Grambling State University founded by Charles P. Adams.
