Fossil skulls report
Abstract:
In this report I will be doing a project using family trees and graphs in explaining
how and why the hobbit know as Homo floresiensis should be placed on the
family tree, the graphs will provide a insight detail on how the fossils change
during evolution over time.
In doing this research the biology class in week 4 did a practical in measuring the
skulls, how this procedure was done is explained in the methods and materials
part below, the results provides a more detailed insight on the evolutionary
change in the fossil skulls, and the discussion part of this report explains why the
hobbit was placed in the Homo group as shown on the family tree, and why I
think it should be placed in that group.
Introduction:
For this report in week 4 the class of biology studied fossil skulls,
They were measured by equipment that was provided, which includes
protractors, rulers, and measuring instruments, then we were provided a
research question for the report to see where the hobbit best fits in a family tree
the hobbit is currently known as the Homo Floresiensis, the research question is
“What family tree best reflects the morphology of the fossil skulls studied, and
how does the ‘Hobbit’ (currently named Homo floresiensis), recently discovered
on the island of Flores in Indonesia, best fit into this family tree?”
In this research report, they will be constructed family trees, a graph of how the
evolution changed over time from primitive to modern and what I think from my
perspective where the hobbit should be placed on the family tree, information
gathered for this report is from the biology laboratory work book and websites.

Methods and materials:
Materials that were used for this exam was protractor, ruler, measuring
instruments.
How it was done, was there was a variety of phylogenetic fossils on the benches
during the week 4 practical lab the biology class had to measure the length,
width, height, face angel, width of postorbital constriction, brow ridge, sagittal
crest, dental arcade and foramen magnum.
