Forms of Communication
Businesses today use a large number of vunues for communication. They cater their
methods to their audience; focusing on ease in access with consumers, for example, as well
as in effeciency within an organization. Businesses continually seek more innovative ways
to convey a message and increase their presence within forums that provide them access to
targeted groups. The result of these efforts is an increased awareness and influence of
organizations who proactively capitalize on the most effective communication techniques.
However, the race for media dominance can cause an undesirable effect of bombardment,
resulting in the alienation of the target, or overshadowing of the message.
When attempting to communicate with a customer base, organizations concentrate on
methods that will have the most efficient effect. This can include written advertisements in
publications, electronic mail, traditional mail, telephone calls, and face to face
conversation. The method chosen is decided by what they want to accomplish. A public
announcement of sales, changes, or developments would be decided if an organization
wishes to reach the entire customer base as a whole. Emails could be chosen to target
certain demographics, preferred customers, or previous customers that they hope to regain.
Traditional mail can utilized for mass marketing or to communicate personalized messages
to specific individuals. Face to face conversation is much more likely to be centered
around one on one interaction, and telephone calls can have many uses. More recently,
