Introduction
It is safe to say in the world of business, writing has definitely grown and become a norm
no matter the business setting or format in which the writing takes place. When it comes to
having to write a memo, email, letter, etc. we often find ourselves making common mistakes that
can be detrimental in the end if errors are not caught, as well as if the writer is unaware of the
mistakes taking place. Writing errors in relation to word choice, punctuation, grammar, editing
and revision all fall within the common mistakes we make as writers and can cause a lot of
confusion in a business setting when it comes to communication. It is important to be aware of
these issues and have the ability to properly fix them so that one may communicate effectively
depending upon the situation at hand. It is safe to say we are in the year of 2020 and there are
many different programs and features that will assist in avoiding and correcting these common
mistakes, for example Grammarly or spelling and grammar check within Microsoft Word.
Although these features are available, it is imperative one be aware of what to look for and how
to properly communicate and fix any errors along the way. Within this report, I will be
discussing and outlining the most common writing issues related to the list of content above in an
attempt to assist a business writer within the workplace.
