Financial Informaon in a Form 990
A form 990 is filled with financial information about a nonprofit organization. Most of
the information available in Part I of the form is a summary of financial information including,
revenues, expenses, and net assets/fund balances. The company records data from the prior
and current year. Unrelated and related business revenue totals are recorded in Part I. A
detailed Statement of Revenue is found in Part VIII. The various categories of revenue include
unrelated business revenue, contributions and grants, program service revenue, investment
income, and other revenue.
Expenses recorded on a Form 990 include, grants and similar amounts paid, benefits
paid to or for members, salaries, other compensation, employee benefits, fundraising fees and
expenses, and other expenses (Part VII is the detailed section regarding compensation of
o.cers, directors, trustees, and key employees). A detailed Statement of Functional Expenses is
