Throughout America, homeless people, poor Americans are seen begging on the streets, every
night. Some looking for work, others for spending cash, but every one of them has begged for food.
Hunger isn’t something only visible to third world countries; it’s a problem in the United States, and it is
getting bigger. It doesn’t just include the homeless, but parents with children, young adults, the elderly,
even former doctors. With the decline in the economy, job loss, and cuts to food assistance, hunger will
continue to increase; cuts made to affordable foods not only raise the poverty level, but hurt aspects of
the economy as well.
Outside of homelessness, many families, especially single parent households today, suffer from
some sort of nutritional food shortages. Many American families work full time jobs, most consist of
over 40 hours a week. Those that are paid hourly are underpaid, while some are also under employed,
