Flint Water Crisis Update:
Monitoring the development of children affected by the crisis
A lot has been done over the years to resolve the Flint water crisis and restore the city’s
water source. After the initial discovery of the high lead levels in the flint water in 2014, it was
concluded that tens of thousands of children had been exposed to the contaminated water. Dr.
Mona Hanna-Attisha, director of the MSU-Hurley Pediatric Public Health Initiative, has since
been leading an effort to identify any children and adults who have been exposed to the lead to
help get them any resources they may need.
