A Flea in Her Ear
When I sat down the very first thing I noticed was that some of the set design was already outside
the red curtains. It was definitely something I had not been used to. I feel that it was a good way
to grab the audience’s attention right from the very beginning. Phillip Church gave a quick thanks
to the cast and crew of the show and proceeded to then mention that an important French consulate
member was in the crowd. He continued on to say how the cast and crew did research on the era
of France in which the play is set. Which is nice to think about because that meant that although
the play is a comedy, they took the rest of it seriously. The play began by introducing the main
charactersEtienne, Lucienne, Antoinette, Camille, Victor, and Raymonde. Lucienne and
Raymonde are best friends. Raymonde approaches Lucienne because she believes that her husband
Victor is cheating on her because his suspenders were mailed to his house from a “sexy hotel”.
