Human Rights Action for Domestic Violence on Women in India.
Thesis: Domestic violence cannot be categorized merely as a personal crime since victims
of domestic abuse, domestic violence, thus, must be identified as a public, national crime.
India’s judicial system’s response to domestic violence and what has lead to it.
Violence by husbands to their wives, is one of the most common forms of domestic
violence that women come across world-wide. (United Nations, 2006) Domestic Violence
is damaging to everyone especially to children who are exposed to it. About 69 million
children are exposed to domestic violence in India. (UNICEF, 2006) Violence against
women is a critical problem in India. In India one-third of women between the ages of
15-49 have been through physical and emotional domestic violence. For married women
every 2 in 5 women have been involved in physical violence with their husbands.

Domestic Violence has on those exposed to domestic violence, then discuss Different court
cases that have occurred, and shed light on the horrible extent of domestic violence and the
reasoning behind these horrendous acts of violence. And different laws that have been put
into place for domestic violence.
The Common reasons for domestic violence in India are dowry, arguing with the partner,
refusal of sex, going out without permission, not cooking properly on time, in-laws etc.
