Michael Eric Dyson wrote a book titled “Come Hell or High Water: Hurricane Katrina
and the Color of Disaster”. This book is about Hurricane Katrina and how it affected people
based on race, class, wealth, etc. and how the federal government essentially did nothing to help.
Katrina ended lives, destroyed families, destroyed property, as well as cause many other
catastrophes that are still affecting people to this day. In regard to this book I will be focusing
specifically on how cultural differences such as race and poverty not only affect everyday life,
but they make a significant difference when a disaster such as this strikes, especially when the
