In corporate America today, there has been increased discussion regarding compensation for
CEOs. The belief that CEOs are overpaid has been a controversial argument. This argument
claims the average CEO is paid 300 times more than the average worker, this misconception
must be put into perspective. For being the top employee in the company CEOs receive top pay.
Their skills and responsibilities are extreme and the recruiting pool for people who can fill these
positions is limited. Americans should be in favor of top pay for CEOs because it is dictated by
the compensation philosophy, corporate performance, and the cultural values of a company.
In support of this argument, here are several key points. First, will be the Compensation
Philosophy. The compensation philosophy is a formal statement documenting a company’s
position about employee compensation. This philosophy is what employers use to attract, retain
