Final Paper
What it means to be a student leader to me is leading by example and being that person
that people look up to. Also as a “student” leader I have to be very proactive and accountable.
Since being a student and dealing with other students it is super important that you can work
together and as a team because everything is collective. My time at HNU has been great, but my
perception of a student leader has changed because in my mind a student leader is someone in a
high position and has a say with many things. I think of most student leaders as upperclassmen
who have had more of a college experience. After two year of being here I have learned that
anyone can be a student leader. It does not have to be an upperclassman or someone in higher
authority. Many people on my soccer team lead in different ways. I am captain of the Men’s
Soccer team and am a leader in this role. As a leader, I have to have good relationships with
teammates and know them like the back of my hand. I have learned that the delivery you give to
teammates is extremely important. My teammate leads by bringing the team together and tells us

successful, my teammates try and match my competitive level. When I work hard it is for me
but for my teammates. If one of them try to match my level everyday it will make them a better
