Asian Studies Final Exam
Social networking is critical in both Asia and other parts of the world. The youth in Asia
have embraced the digital era to perform their daily duties based on their cultural preferences,
internet access, and consumption. The essay would like to therefore, access the eight cultural
aspects of the Asian people of three groups such as; migrants, urban, and rural dwellers
(Schechner 40).
Social Environment
The social environment in Asia has been braided by four cultures namely: Korean, Indian,
Chinese, and the Japanese. There is increased use of mobile devices in Korea and the teenagers
express themselves anonymously. That of japan is uniquely preoccupied by diversity and the use
of Facebook for recruitment purposes. The young people in China exist in the digital world. They
use social sites such as Alibaba, Apple, and Youku to interact with the western world (Baguwen
667). As they mingle, the Chinese youths get more interested in lasting relationships and social
networks for bettering their businesses in the future. The social media interaction and networking
in India is similar to that of the United States and attracts robust networking skills. One of the
major website that is popular in India is Link2connect.com. Additionally, the social networking
in India is aimed at modern traditions, economic growth, and networking. The social networking

skills and goals in the Asian cultures therefore, vary from one ethnic group to the other
(Schechner 40).
Pressure/Anxiety
In Asia, half of the young people are highly educated and 70% live in the cities. The non
educated and the educated hold different attitudes. The educated young people have high levels
of literacy, accessibility to the internet; health care and insurance while the non-educated have
low levels of literacy, no accessibility to the internet, and no insurance cover. Both the educated
and the non-educated young persons in Asia have dreams to express their views, respect from the
locals, and citizenship. The internet in Asia therefore affects the social interaction of the young
people and motivates them (Schechner 40).
