While we are still experiencing the effects of the economy after COVID-19 the help of the price
ceiling that was enforced upon all landlords was definitely a good choice to many who were
struggling to decide what they would have to forfeit during times like such. Besides worrying
about finding work to have enough for bill payments along with setting food on the table while
not being able to work has been most people’s reality this year. But with this good news also
comes bad, the price ceiling did not last long enough to keep these worries off of our nations
civilians, “Nationwide, many states have faced a difficult choice in deciding whether to extend or
terminate their shut-off protections as the economy has started to rebound.” says the Housing,
Utilities, and the Pandemic excerpt provided for us. Some states made it mandatory to continue
with the no payments made for rent while others didn’t do so and it caused many to be put in
situations where they could not afford to have their electricity on or water left running. Though
rent control isnt the only solution for help during the pandemic, it was truly one of the most
helpful in the sense of carrying the load of stresses that came with keeping up with bills. As we
talked about previously, things such as subsidies provided with government funding is also very
helpful.
