A film is great if it is on point with the accuracy of the time period and events. 42 is a
great film because it does a wonderful job at displaying that. This movie shows the obstacles
Jackie Robinson had to overcome in 1947 to play MLB. Wikipedia revealed the stars to be
“Chadwick Bosseman as Jackie robinson, and Harrison Ford as Branch Rickey, with Alan
Tudyk, Nicole Beharie, Christopher Meloni, Andre Holland, Lucas Black, Hamish Linklater and
Ryan Merriman playing in supporting roles.”
Jackie Robinson is the first African American to ever play Major League Baseball in the
20th century. This historical moment is known as “breaking the color barrier.” He was signed by
the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. At this time America, especially the south, was living by a set of
