Federalist vs. Anti-Federalist
Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist Paper No. 6 and John DeWitt’s To the Free Citizens of the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts, were both written in relevance to the United States
Constitution. The federalist papers were one of the most important “defenses” of the constitution.
(About The Federalist, 2016). They were a series of essays written by three different authors,
James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. The federalist papers were written with the
intent to breakdown the constitution and explain why it protects the people’s rights. These 85
essays advising ratification were known as some of the “greatest political writings in American
