Federalist Vs. AntiFederalist
It is the year 1788 and the people the colonies are voting on a “Plan for The New Federal
Government.” After the war there have been struggles with the government and The Articles of
Confederation were put into place to run the United States of America. These articles hold value
to construct a flow of government through the colonies. Currently there are many issues with this
document as the state of our country is in an economic struggle as we progress through the years.
Each colony has their own vote on different laws which are passed through a two-thirds vote;
which means that nine of the thirteen colonies need to approve for a bill to be passed. As some
states are larger than others this proves to give a disadvantage to states that are larger in
population and size and benefits smaller states by giving them equal say. There were a large
amount of issues with the Articles of Confederation which leads us to forming the United States
Constitution. This took ten months for a two-thirds vote but it has finally been approved but
there are still many issues that arise. One issue is the lowering economic value that the country
currently holds to the people. The states currently have no money due to the war. Solving this
problem would be through taxation with imported and exported goods which give the United
States money to help grow their economic status. The next argument would be through looking
back at the history and understanding that the states could function with a separated government
instead of one central government. The Constitution gave too much power to the government
and essentially took steps back from the revolution from the British. There is a large fear of

giving one person that is elected power which resembled living under a monarchy which is what
our country was straying away from when we segregated from England.
As the Constitution finds ways to form government it lacks the structure to collect money
from the people to further the economic struggle the country currently has. As currency is based
by each state it lacks value; if states had one form of currency the country in itself would prove
to become stronger. As the country has formed debt since the war the colonies look to find a
stable currency to pull the country above ground. As stated in Antifederalist Papers No. 21,
“Although very considerable benefit might be derived from strengthening the hands of Congress,
so as to enable them to regulate commerce, and counteract the adverse restrictions of other
nations, which would meet with the concurrence of all persons; yet this benefit is accompanied in
