Fear of Feedback

Feedback, from my point of view is a very important tool that has been underestimated by
most of the people. As it is often associated with criticism by an “external” side, its value
is usually focused on the negative aspects and it is not used as a way to improve the
performance of the service or product we are providing.
It is obvious to say that reviews, especially performance reviews based on your individual
work are very distressing for everyone. Having superiors going through the details of our
role and comparing them to the established goals produces a feel of discomfort. However,
it is important to state that this is part of professional life.
The fear of feedback is a common feeling associated with the fear of negative evaluations,
which could be considered as the anxiety and avoidance toward other’s evaluations and the
expectation of being negatively evaluated. This could be considered as a widespread
sensation among most of people and it is due to many reasons, depending on each person´s
life story but the fact that nobody likes being criticized is no surprise.
Reacting to these situations is a key factor in order to maintain a good stability (both
working and mental stability) and avoiding compromising situations. According to the way
we prepare ourselves for the issues related to our position, we could be able to develop
better strategies to face them. Considering the different types of maladaptive behaviors
