Our organization, La Chassure is an assistive technology organization working with the
Foundation of the Disabled. We design a wide variety of things for people, from technology, to
smart walking sticks, from clothes to shoes. This time, we have innovated our normal shoes to a
new kind of shoe dedicated to helping the visually impaired. (the blind)
1 Introduction
Our innovation is made using a shoe. We innovated this item to a shoe that can help the disabled
particularly the blind to give them a sense of direction. Our main targets for this shoe are
particularly for the blind people and other consumers as the shoe can also be sold for the blind
people and for those who are not disabled. Our organization makes both special shoes for the
blind and shoes made with our own design for people who aren’t disabled.
1.1 Background and Purpose of Innovation
We chose the innovation because there have been quite a number of blind people getting into
road accidents, or other accidents, losing their sense of direction. The purpose of our innovation
is to innovate a normal shoe into a shoe that can help the disabled or the blind give them a sense
of direction for example putting a GPS in the shoe and voice message received through the
earpiece the blind person wears (that comes with the shoe) A perfectly fine person can also wear
the shoe and it also comes in different designs and colors. Studies of blind people in the US have
had many head crash accidents and there are a number of blind people getting into these
accidents.

1.3 Methodology
Our team used the method of group discussion to discuss our innovation. Consisting of 3 people
in the group, each the three of us came up with ideas on how we can benefit people, who are
disabled, since our field and mission is to provide assisting technology to assist the disabled
better. Our team looked up at the statistics to see whether disabled people are still at risk of
accidents to make sure we decided to innovate the right product.
2. Idea Generation
2.1 Brainstorming
Our brainstorming session was conducted as a group discussion with 3 people. Each of us
contributed ideas that could be possible innovations for helping the disabled. During this
discussion, we decided that the innovation should be targeted for the blind because of the
increasing road accidents happening to them. On the first day, of the brainstorming session, we
discussed about what innovation we are going to create which was as an innovation for helping
the disabled people. During the next few brainstorming sessions, we listed some of our
innovations that could be our main innovation. Our team listed down 15 ideas generated and
each of the team members come up with 5 ideas each.
