When considering the food we eat, do we stop and think before we eat it? Many people do
not care about what they eat, as long as they have food to eat, or it is food that they like to
eat. Thus, many people do not control their eating habits, especially teenagers. By not
controlling your eating habits, many health problems may occur and the most common one
is obesity. In some cases, obesity is a big problem. In the article “National Security: Food
on the Front Lines,” Daniel Imhoff implied that “ between 1995 to 2008, 1,400,000
candidates nationwide failed their physical exams due to weight problems. More than one
of every four Americans ages 17 to 24 is too overweight to enlist” (15). Weight problems
are very serious that kids/young adults are too overweight to even sign up to take the
physical test, but what triggered these kids to become overweight? In the article “Kids
Battle Lure of Junk Food,” Maureen O’Hagan explains the life of a teenager named
Nathan who is obese. O’ Hagan describes several factors of why kids turn obese. Kids turn
obese because it is easier to access to food, location was more convenient, and for the
satisfaction. Consequently, it is hard for them to manage their diet and watch their weight.
Food is easy to access to. Food that teenagers like is even easier to access to. Foods that
may cause obesity are chips, candy, soda, high sugar, salt and calories, and fast food
