Faith Integration Paper #2
I think about our bodies being more than ornaments but instruments and
this class has helped me to reinforce that. I thought a good scripture and one of my
personal favorites Philippians 4:13 which states, I can do all things through Christ
who strengthens me.” I think this relates because if you put your mind to something
you can achieve everything, you just have to put in the work and it will pay off in the
end just like keeping up with your nutrition. For example with me I didn’t really
workout much before I got to Huntington and had always been pretty small and
skinny. I figured out if I start taking this lifting thing seriously I would see some
results in strength, weight gain, and put on some muscle. Now I actually enjoy lifting
and it has become something I do everyday and something to do to get my mind off
things and help my body for the better. I just feel like a new man after I get done
with a workout. One thing that came to mind that we watched in class was the girls
with anorexia and how skinny they were. I didn’t know how to put on weight and
wasn’t eating the right foods, let alone enough to help with that. This class has
helped me with that, giving me a better understanding of what foods have what for
me to eat and stay away from. That was a prime example of not treating your body
like an instrument because the girls would make themselves throw up which isn’t
right to do to yourself. It just really opened up my eyes after watching it and what is
does to your body. There are so many people out there who face health problems.
Just like what I read in the textbook of proper eating habits. You have to look for the
serving size, number of calories, and percent daily value. You also have to limit fat,
cholesterol, sodium, and increase your dietary fibers, vitamins, and minerals. These
are all very good to look out for and what’s good and bad to put into your body. You
got to treat your body like a temple and what God would want you to put into it,
that’s my motto and a lifestyle for a healthy life to live by.
