The Facts of Evolution
Biology online defines evolution as “the change in genetic composition of a
population over successive generations, which may be caused by natural selection,
inbreeding, hybridization, or mutation” (Unknown). There are many concepts of
evolution that people do not wish to understand. Evolution does not propose the origins
of life; it does not answer the question of how the first multicellular organisms came to
existence. Instead it describes how they evolved once they had been formed rather than
how they were even formed to begin with. Abiogenesis, which is the supposed
spontaneous origination of living organisms directly from lifeless matter (“Abiogenesis”),
does not relate to Darwinism in any way. Darwinism is the studies of Charles Darwin
and focuses more on the concepts of natural selection and the survival of the fittest.
It is proven that human DNA and chimpanzee DNA are ninety-eight percent
identical to one another (Gardner). Both human and chimpanzee are diverged from a
same common ancestor from 5 million years ago. Humans are the modern descendants
of ancient apes, where modern apes are the descendants from the same ancestral tree
