Fact or Myth
1. B Vitamins provides energy when you feel “run down or tired.”
False. Taking B vitamins won’t provide you with energy when you are feeling run down or tired.
However, if you are deficient in B12 for example and constantly tired and you begin to take B-12. You
might feel as if you are regaining your energy back due to no longer the lack of deficiency. Normally we
get our energy from food, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats.
2. Calcium supplements will prevent or reverse osteoporosis.
False. Calcium supplements are not proven to prevent or reverse osteoporosis. Although it may be
possible that a sufficient intake of calcium along with vitamin D may decrease your risk of osteoporosis
since both are significant in our bone health. Supplements are not guaranteed to work the same.
3. If you feel tired, supplementation with iron will make feel more energized.
False. Iron supplements may only help if the cause for the lack of energy/tiredness is due to an iron
deficiency.
4. Vitamins D and K are supplied solely by dietary sources
