Facebook is bad
Everyday the technology is developed in different ways. Long ago, many people used
letters, phones, fax to communicate each other in long distance. However, on February of 2004, a
group of teenagers invented a social network service called facebook. Today, more than five
million of people have a facebook account and hundred percent of people log on to facebook
everyday. However, people do not think about the bad consequence that facebook has. In my
opinion, people should stop using Facebook because it creates conflict in all aspects of our lives;
within our relationships and friendships, academically with our school work, intervenes with our
privacy, and can conflict with our health, medically.
Facebook is one of the reasons that many relationships fail. The researchers found that
high levels of Facebook use among couples significantly predicted Facebook-related conflict,
which then significantly predicted negative relationship outcomes such as cheating, breakup, and
divorce. Sometimes while scrolling through my own facebook news feed, I come across couples
arguing on their facebook statuses. Most often, a girlfriend or boyfriend is upset at their
significant other for liking and/or commenting on another person’s Facebook photo, claiming
that this other person is attractive. Russell Clayton of the University of Missouri conducted a
study which revealed that excessive Facebook users are more likely to reconnect with Facebook

friends and previous partners which can lead to emotional and physical cheating. The way
people use facebook today makes it harder for a couple to have a healthy relationship due to trust
issues, insecurities, and even revealing personal information about your relationship to the
public. In many cases, relationships that have at least on excessive Facebooker -who have an
active facebook user in the relationship- are more likely to end, in comparison to a couple who
keeps their relationship private. But, not only can Facebook negatively affect romantic
relationships, it can also affect friendships. With the advancement of technology, the increased
use social media has resulted in lack of communication in majority of our generation. If we are
not careful, our online interactions can hurt our real-life relationships. Although Facebook was
created with the intent to meet and reconnect with friends, Facebook users are suddenly abusing
the use of social media by taking their friendships online. The regular use of Facebook has made
