The common characteristics required leading a learning organization and those required to lead a
complex international project is first of all a need of successful knowledge management baseline
to launch and sustain the growth. Learning organizations are those that continuously transform
with the help of continuous learning. The leading groups like complex international organization
also work in similar fashion. They both need very flexible management style which can come
only through successful knowledge management baseline. They can work from this baseline and
develop to sustainable organizations. For this knowledge management does play a very crucial
role requiring the resources to continuously acquire knowledge and skills, especially as the
organization itself adopts new processes and even new technologies which may be disruptive in
nature. All this is required to gain a competitive edge and the need to work so as to integrate the
newly developed processes or adoption of new technologies.

and while all leaders can be managers, but not all managers can be leaders. It is true that a
learning organization may offer a good work environment.
