Do it yourself: Iliad edition
In Robert Fagles’ translation of Homer’s epic, The Iliad, the forces of free will and the
gods’ pre determined fate consistently affect the mortals. Humans do possess their own
independence, however, there is little they may do to change the destinies the gods provide them.
They act as freely as they please, but it is in their favor to do as the gods’ desire.
It is the humans’ choice to follow the gods’ prophecies. Saying that, residing on the bad
