Introduction
In this topic, I’ll be discussing social skill interventions that enhance social skill
performance for clients with autism. Social prompt hierarchies can be used to assist in social
situations and teach clients with autism to function in everyday situations. There are a variety of
performance tools and methods for helping a client with autism learn and generalize simple tasks
like conversation turn taking or interactive play. In helping a client with autism acquire and
maintain these skills, there are a variety of supports and reinforcement strategies for social
shaping and that are peer-mediated. I’ll discuss each of these topics using research on evidence-
based strategies and reviewing results of relevant studies.
