Spring Festival
I. Introduction
Chinese New Year, known in modern Chinese as the "Spring Festival", is an important Chinese
festival celebrated at the turn of the traditional unipolar Chinese calendar. Celebrations traditionally run
from the evening preceding the first day, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first calendar
month.
The New Year festival is centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and
traditions. Traditionally, the festival was a time to honors deities as well as ancestors. Chinese New Year
is celebrated in countries and territories with significant Chinese populations, including Mainland
China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, and the Malaysia, Chinese New Year is considered a
major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the lunar new year celebrations of its geographic
neighbors.
This event want to helping lot of International students especially students whom from Chinese
culture, because Chinese New Years always from the end of January or the front of February, students in
United States almost in final time so that they cannot back to their country to celebrate this important
day, so this event is a chance that to let Chinese students can celebrate together, get together to watch
the show and eat some food, communicate each other and welcome the new year comes.
II. Event Design
a. Themes Design
We are International students and we came to United States for 2 years, we knows there’s
a lot of international students who want to celebrates this important days also, however, its
difficult to go back home because the time we don’t have any vacation to travel, so that we
design this event to let International students can get together to celebrate and communicate.
This event is not only for Chinese international students, but also for Western culture students
who want to know more about Chinese culture. We also welcome Japanese and Korean Students
join this event, although we’re speak different language, however, these two countries has strong

connection with Chinese culture, they also has Spring festival which has same meaning with our
Chinese culture, we’re really welcome them to join us in this event. Every Spring Festival we
will have some performance, these performance are tradition dance or modern music or drama.
In this event, students will feel like home and we will provide some food and some games just
like what them will do when the spring festival at their home countries.
b. Mission and goals of the event
Our mission is to promote the Chinese Student Associate in Johnson and Wales, to show
the charm of Chinese culture and let International students have a chance feel like home, get
together to celebrate this important day. In this event, is not only welcome Chinese students but
also welcome Western students to join to learn more and experience the New Year in Chinese
culture. We will provide some Chinese dessert like dimsun and some Chinese food to let them
know more about Chinese culture. In this event, our objectives are attracting and cultivating
students to celebrate and show for the communities, show the literature and art strength and
