European Union & Its Impact on International Business
The European Union, or EU, was formed in 1951 and is a combination of the
European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) and the European Economic Community
(EEC). (London Yearly Meeting (Society of Friends), 1973) The EU started out as six
countries and today has 28 member states. The European Union is a politico-economic
union that is located primarily in Europe. (Europa, n.d.) The EU operates through a
system of intergovernmental negotiations between the member states. The European
Union has organized into a single market with a set of laws that apply to all the member
states. The policies created within the EU are aimed to ensure the free movement of
