In both the excerpts from Columbus and Las Casas, the Indians are viewed with that they
have someone viewing them in a sense that their voice can be heard. However, with mans
selfish desires and intents, what can start off as good intentions can turn for the worst.
Columbus’s conquer was to immediately go in as his King and Queen ordered, but he saw an
opportunity to work smarter and not harder to win favor of the indigenous people. For Las Casas,
the indigenous people never really stood a chance. Fromm when the settlers first arrive to more
and more flooding in, the misuse and hatred toward the natives grew as the Spaniards came
pouring into the native’s land.
