Ethics in the Workplace
Ethics: A set of moral principles, a theory or system of moral values (Merriam-Webster
Online Dictionary). Ethics deals with doing what is right and wrong. Ethical behavior is equally
important in a personal setting as it is in the workplace. According to LinkedIn’s latest
workplace culture report, “86% of millennials would consider taking a pay cut to work at a
company whose mission and values align with their own.” If an employee’s values coordinate
with the organization he or she works for, this is the beginning of a solid foundation heading for
success. A group possessing identical work values will be working towards the same goals with
the same intentions. Benefits of ethics in the workplace, managers promoting ethics and
education pertaining to ethical behavior are three components to be discussed.
