Ethical Considerations and Dilemmas in Owning a Restaurant
Introduction
KFC is one of the world’s best chicken restaurants. The KFC’s chains are operating all
over the world and serving more than 12 million customers in different countries. KFC
also faced various ethical issues while opening new outlets in some other regions. KFC has
faced problem from non government organizations such as PETA and Greenpeace. KFC
was blamed for its ill treatment towards farm chickens. Strict action was taken by the
PETA on this and later on, KFC has remove its this mistake.
Another issue conserning KFC is customers complained that fast food restaurant’s menu
offers variety in dietary food but their food quality is poor. This problem is faced by almost
all the restaurants of the world that they are fail to fulfill customer’s demands.
It is important to behave ethically in all professions or all types of businesses. Ethical
behaviors constitute towards development of consumer’s interaction with the
organizations. Consumers are getting more conscious about their eating habits and their
beliefs are also changing about fast food restaurants (Monaghan, 2012). Restaurant’s
management has to adopt some ethical considerations while offering food to consumers.
They have to maintain quality food in their restaurants.
Personal Ethical System
My personal ethical system is duty driven. I have a clear right and worng. I wont go and do
something illegal because I know is the wrong things to do. One example I can give is one
we had in class conserning the student with a 69.3 overall average if I was his teacher I
would not pass him because that’s my ethical system if the passing score is a 70 and this
student got a 69.3 he will not be promoted to the next grade level.
Professional Ethical System
Food restaurants mostly used end driven strategy in their ethical system because their
ultimate goal is to satisfy their customers. We make ethical decisions based on the
consumer’s benefits; we use those manufacturing products which are according to
consumer’s norms and values.
Possible Clients
The three possible clients that restaurants aim are the following:
Professinals- every business person who is in a hurry sometimes goes and grabs something
quick form a fast food restaurant.
Families- families of 4 or more usually dine in a fast food restaurant because it will be
cheaper than going into a fancy restaurant.
Tennagers- now a days tenagers hang out anywhere but many hang out in fast food places
because since they are young they can affored something from their menu
