Abstract:
Target Corporation, one of the biggest retailers there is in America, where millions of
consumers go shopping at, and gets extremely busy during Black Friday and the holidays.
Target is well known for having a positive reputation and being one of the most ethical
businesses in America because of the “Expect More Pay Less” promise, giving 5% back to
the community, and having strong business ethics for their employees and community.
However, Target has been going through some rough times because of the Target breach
and CEO stepping down in America, which has been causing ethical issues for the
company. The question is now in the air on what happened with the breach and CEO, how
has it affected the company and consumers, and what is the company doing to fix these
ethical issues it is facing? This research paper will focus on the ethical issues that Target
Corporation is facing and apply concepts that are being used to fix the problems.
Introduction:
Target Corporation is one of biggest, respected, well known, and most ethical company
there is in America. Target has been known for delivering the “Expect More Pay Less”
promise, giving 5% back to community, and having strong business ethics. Retailers’
purpose is to sell product to the consumers and drive profitable sales for the company.
However, Target sales have been dropping, reputation has been hurt, and is facing ethical
issues. The question now is, what ethical issues is the company facing, how has it become
affected with the Target breach and CEO stepping down, and what is the company doing to
fix these ethical issues? I will begin this research paper by giving a brief history behind the
company and describe why it is known for being ethical. I will later move to the ethical
issues the company facing and how this has affected the company. Moving forward, I will
focus on what the company is doing to fix these ethical issues and review what concepts
they are applying to restructure and become the ethical company they were once known
for.
