ETHICS IN HEALTHCARE
In society, each profession has a role, position and influence important to the development
of the country, especially requiring “professional ethics”, conscience and responsibility of the
profession. The medical profession is a profession-specific, noble, directly related to the life and
health of humans. The people who works in healthcare must approach, requiring skill, reflexes,
and professional ethics is higher than other professions, which society called ethics. In the world,
it is said that the father of medicine refers to Hippocrates, an ancient Greek physician, who lived
nearly 2,500 years ago, but his ideas and knowledge remain valid. In particular, he taught the
medical profession that the ethics, which the teachings later his successors have written a career
oath that all doctors graduated from the university must declare. That is the “Hippocrates oath”. In
this oath, it said “If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and
art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear
falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.
Ethics form the basic foundation of different values from a different culture. Ethics has
been applied in the health care system since ancient Egypt. A physician has a moral duty to his or
her patients based on the relationship of the physician the patient. Ethical principles of security
