For each of the scenarios, answer the questions explaining the action you would take and why.
Scenario 1
You are a player on the Falcons Basketball team. During the game you and an opposing player
attempt to control a loose ball, but it goes out of bounds and you were the last one to touch it.
However, the official awards the ball to your team. Would you tell the official you were the last
one to touch the ball? Why or why not? If there were no officials, as in a pick-up game, would
you admit to touching the ball last? Why or why not? What do you believe to be the ethical
response in these two situations?
I would tell the official that I was the last person to touch the ball because I believe in playing
fair and winning because you were better not because you were dishonest. I would admit to
touching the ball last even without officials because it is the right thing to do. I think the ethical
response is to tell the truth even if it makes you lose.
