Prison riots are caused by dissatisfaction under inmates about the
prison, or as a result of poor prison management. Things like overcrowding
of the prison, too little activities for inmates or no response to complaints
and requests of prisoners can cause the inmates to protest in form of a riot.
Poor prison management can allow things like aggressive inmates, gang
activities or weapons within the prison to get out of hand.
There are four stages to a prison riot:
