Low calorie sweeteners have been around for quite some time now. Low calorie
sweeteners are just a substitute for regular sugar but with less calories. It was first
discovered after World War II when there wasn’t enough sugar to meet the demand. There
was such a high demand on sugar because it made things taste better and actually gave
things flavor. Soon after in the 1960s scientist came up with a substitute for sugar that
would change the way sugar is used forever. The low calorie sweetener was also created as
a form to control body weight with all the low fat and low calorie products, so people
could still consume all the things that they loved without consuming all the calories in the
original product. But in the 1990s scientist found that low calorie sweeteners could cause
more damage then it could be beneficiary. Today there is a great disagreement between
people on whether low calorie sweeteners are good or bad for the human body. There are
some benefits to low calorie sweeteners that could help people reduce their body weight,
but some people think that it’s not the healthiest way to lose weight. Others think that all
the chemicals that are used to make low calorie sweeteners can damage internal organs, yet
many people think that there are other factors that contribute to the damage of internal
organs.
Low calorie sweeteners are includes in the Dietary Guidelines because it’s the cause for
many internal damage in the human body. That can often lead to chronic diseases in the
future like it can cause chronic inflammation to the joints. Another reason that it’s included
in the guideline is because it causes obesity in the long run because it builds up fat
overtime. The Dietary Guidelines also want people to be aware that even though they’re
consuming products with low calories sweeteners it’s essentially the same as consuming
regular sugar. It’s just sugar that had been processed more, and that it has the same effects
of regular sugar on the human body. Some of the implications that low calorie sweeteners
have on the workforce is that it causes joint inflammation and that would cause people to
recruit to unemployment, so there would be less people working and more people
unemployed. Another implication would be that it could cause government subsidies to go
to health care instead of going to other things such as schools. Also most government
