As we step up into our college life, the most common circumstances that we build up is
our social life. There comes the ORSEM , which constructs our personalities and during college,
we want to meet new classmates, friends, co-courses and co- deparments. As we amend into
our new environment we develop more our skill and talents, to converse and socialize more
with other individuals. We are also encourage by the universities that we are a%ending in to
encompass the activities and programs they make such as Acquaintance Parties.
In my Second year of college, I also experienced a%ending Acquaintance party when I
was in First year. A couple of people were inviting me to be present and involve about the said
activity and as a freshmen, I assured of what I could gain if I a%ended or not. Occasionally, we
answer to them “it depends”, sometimes its totally .ne and at times, its more inappropriate
because of too much thinking of what should I wear or what will I do but then what I think is
important though is that sometimes it is okay to invite yourself to things, and knowing that may
let you have a be%er social life. I'll drive into more detail below, but this is really one of those
expanses where you have to use your own judgment. Every situation is di1erent. There aren't
any hard and fast rules.
A lot of people like me have an opinion whether is it okay to a%end an event like
Acquaintance parties or not. There are reasons why we invite ourselves to join to an occasion.
There are times that some people would not openly invite you but they will be happy if you
came. It could be they have their own reasons. Maybe they forgot to tell you, or assumed the
invitation was obvious that is why they remained unspoken. From time to time, some of your
bunch of friends will a%end, of course, you will have the guts to show up also and its still worth
it to you to go.
